Websites for churches and ministries
A church website that welcomes the visitor before the first visit.
Someone who has just moved to Lisbon or the Algarve, or is going through a hard season, looks for a church on Google before walking in. Your website answers what that person wants to know and makes them feel expected.
What holds back churches online
Three problems I see every week.
Visitors do not know what to expect.
What time is the service? Which language? Is there something for the children? Where do I park? Without those answers, many people give up before arriving.
Information is scattered.
Times on Instagram, notices in the WhatsApp group, the livestream on YouTube. Newcomers find nothing, and members ask the same questions again.
The site has been frozen for years.
A 2018 photo, an out-of-date calendar, a broken link. A newcomer's first impression is of a church that is no longer there.
What your website will have
Built for your sector, not adapted from a template.
On top of what every project includes — technical SEO, speed, lead tracking and a review of your copy — the website includes what makes a difference in your sector:
"Plan your visit"
A page for first-timers: what the service is like, the language it is held in, what to wear, where to park, children's ministry and who will greet them at the door.
Times and calendar always current
Services, small groups, events and conferences in one place, in a Google Sheet your own team updates.
Livestreams and sermons
Live services and past sermons from YouTube embedded in the site, organised by series.
Ministries and next steps
A page for each ministry and a clear path for anyone who wants to get involved: baptism, membership, volunteering.
Giving
A giving page with the church's bank details for transfer or MB WAY, simple and transparent.
Prayer requests and contact
Forms handled with care for the data of whoever writes, in line with the GDPR.
Members' data handled with care (GDPR)
Prayer requests, member records and sign-ups involve personal data and often special-category data: under Article 9 of the GDPR, data revealing religious beliefs has extra protection. In Portugal the GDPR (RGPD) applies together with national law, supervised by the CNPD. The site collects only what is needed, explains what it is used for and has a clear privacy policy.

Preview before the balance
You see the finished site working on a preview link and only pay the second half after you approve it.
90+ performance
Minimum score of 90 on PageSpeed Insights (mobile) at launch, with the site on the Essential plan hosting or another host I recommend. If it falls short, I fix it at no cost.
Deadline with a penalty
If the delay is mine, you get 10% off per week. The deadline starts once I have received all the material. It's in the contract.

Questions from people in the trade
Questions about websites for churches
Can our own team update the site?
Yes. The calendar and notices live in a Google Sheet that your communications volunteers can already use, and the site updates itself. At handover the team gets a short video showing how. New pages and other changes go through the monthly plan.
Can we stream services on the site?
Yes. The stream stays on YouTube (free, and it handles any audience) and appears embedded in the site, together with past sermons organised by series.
Can the site be in English and Portuguese?
Yes, and for international congregations it is a real need: visitors search in English, and neighbours and families often search in Portuguese. Each page exists in both languages.
How does online giving work?
The giving page shows the church's bank details clearly, with a transfer or MB WAY option. If you want recurring gifts or cards, I can integrate a donation platform as a custom project.
Have you built church websites before?
Yes. The Igreja Baptista de Cascais and the SEMIPA seminary portal are online and can be visited in the portfolio, as well as the Comunidade Graça demo.
